2005 LGU Web Contest Conduct

Monday, 15 August 2005

The National Computer Center through its flagship project, “Jumpstarting Electronic Governance in Local Government Units,” or the eLGU Project, is set to launch the conduct of the 2005 LGU Website Contest.

As such, the contest is aimed to encourage LGUs to establish and maintain an official site in the World Wide Web. Likewise, the contest is meant to further inspire other LGUs to continue to enhance their sites and improve the delivery of online services to the public.

The LGU Website Contest is open to all local government units nationwide with an official LGU website. The contest consists of two categories, namely : NCC Content Management System (CMS) Based and Non-CMS or Independent.

Particularly, the NCC-CMS-Based Category, are those LGU websites built using the NCC-developed website template with online content management features. On the one hand, the Non-CMS or Independent Category, are LGU websites developed using tools other than the NCC-CMS (to include the open source website development tool Mambo CMS).

Moreover, an LGU is entitled to have only one contest entry. To join the contest, interested LGUs must accomplish and submit the 2005 Website Contest Entry Form downloadable from the eLGU website at here. Likewise, the form is available upon request from the NCC office.

LGU entry form must be duly signed by the Local Chief Executive (LCE) or by his/her authorized representative and may be submitted either by fax at (062) 993-2878, or by mail to the National Computer Center-Field Operations Office, SRT Loong Building, Veterans Avenue Extension, Tumaga, Zamboanga City 7000.

Contest period will officially start on September 1, 2005. Submission of entries for both categories is set on September 30, 2005.

Winners for the CMS and Non-CMS categories will each receive glass trophies and will be featured in the eLGU Journal and the eLGU Project website.
